Delve into my psyche
1. My favorite color in the world is lime-green
2. If I'm not writing, I'm thinking about writing.
3. My family and I lived in Doha, Qatar when I was in 3rd and 4th grade. Loved it, maybe not live there but I would visit in a heartbeat. Same goes for my family as well, at least my sister.
4. I am a night owl. When the moon rises, it's my prime time. This is a fairly recent discovery, I noticed it a few years ago when I drew a wonderfully detailed picture of a Victorian lady out by a park. The next morning I picked up my pad, tried to draw more, but could not until night came. I think it has something to do with the solitude that the night brings.
5. Sure I've had a few boyfriends, but the guys I remember as having true connections with are the ones I never technically dated. at least not in the terms of holding hands, going to a movie ect.
6. Hippy in the wrong decade. My favorite types of clothing are the flowing kind, the ones that offer more freedom. I only wear flipflops, wont touch another shoe if I can help it. Peace, love, all that good stuff. But not the crazy sex and drugs. I'm more of an apathetic hippy.
7. Born, baptized, and raised Mormon. But, the rest of me says I'm not really part of a religion.
8. Not that I don't want to have anything to do with Mormons, I still consider myself one. It's just that churches, of every major religion, are too conventional and guilt ridden for me. Call me a sinner, but I would rather attend a more peace related ceremony than be bogged down with 'do's and donts'
9. I completed my first novel within a year, 164 pages. (all of them crap, but what can you do?) Title: 'The Curse' taken, vicariously, from what I thought the movie 'The Mummy' should have been like.
10. The second novel took a lot longer than the first. I don't remember the exact number of years, but it falls around seven I'm sure. Title: 'Hijacked' highly over dramatized story of a conspiracy within the US govt
11. No more completed novels since then, but numerous begun. I think I've been working on 'Peridot Earth' (my third started, and favorite one so far) for nearly four or five years now, due to the several modifications on the plot, conflict, ect.
12. My dad was an author too. He published a book that he had been working on nearly the span of my life, titled 'Dead', a few years ago. Vietnam Veteran, good stuff.
13. Last May my Dad was diagnosed with an extremely aggressive brain tumor, and subsequently died from it on December 5th, 2005. Love ya, Dad.
14. I have four siblings. Stephanie, Clayton, Alma, Chris. All are much older than me, and spread across the country. (Steph is 14 years older, Chris is 7 years older) That makes me the baby, and they never let me forget it.
15. I've worked at Bed Bath and Beyond (2004), Cinnebon (2005), and now I'm working as a nanny over the summer for my sister.
16. Attended SHSU (Sam Houston State University of Huntsville, TX) for my first year of college. Now I have transferred to Mesa College of San Diego, Calif.
17. There are numerous reasons for the transfer. A nice way of putting it, was that I lived too long in Texas. That, and my mom already lived in San Diego, and offered for me to come there and help fill her empty nest. Since one parent is already gone, I feel the need to live near the other. Hell, a big reason I went to SHSU in the first place was because it was an hour away from my sick father.
18. I have one step mom, one step dad, and then my Mom. That might seem like a lot, but to me it seems like the numbers are dwindling. When are they going to make a "healthy for 100 years" pill??
19. In my existence on this planet, I have never lived in one place (house/city) for more than five years. Usually around four, someone gets an itch, and we move. Texas has been my residence for 15 years, differing cities of course. That's too long. I don't see myself moving back there.
20. When I feel icky, I put on makeup, my favorite outfit, and body splash. It all ways brightens my mood.
21. For the most part, there hasn't been a man who has ever not pissed me off, especially if we are in the same household. I think the only one I have ever been pissed off at, and forgiven, has been Malcolm and my Dad. (malcolm is my step dad)
22. I don't consider myself a man hater, though. I think the reason I don't like the male species is because they all have one thing in common: they have a douse of arrogance. Arrogance pisses me off to no end, and so when I sense it, OMG watch out. And I don't think 'men' ever grow up, or mature. This is something I need to work on if I ever plan to get married.
23. Um.. Actually I don't plan to get married. I'm not a lesbian, but I have no want in me to be plagued by marriage. Usually I don't like getting into situations I can't easily get out of, IE commitment. Divorce isn't nearly as easy as 'breaking up' with a 'boyfriend'. And I relish in alone time.
24. I also don't want kids. Read above for reasons.
25. This might all be a phase, I'm not one to say. But my argument stands good: why get married when you're my age? If you want to get married, but you're fresh from high school and have never left mommy and daddy's roof, you will not have a successful marriage, or a happy life. In my opinion, marriage isn't what's supposed to make you grow up, it's something you need to be grown up to understand and undertake. So, until the day comes when I have a change of heart, I will do my share of growing up before taking the plunge.
26. Deathly afraid of roaches. I can spray them, from a distance. Hell, I'll chase them around the f**ing house with a can of Raid, but I can't get more contact than that. No other pest inflicts fear in me as the roach does. Spiders, beetles, flies, mice, lizards; bring them on! But a roach? I will freak, just a little bit.
27. OCD, slightly at times and severe at other times. Things have to be in their place, certain objects must be spotless, sometimes I can't step on cracks or lines. Another point here, I change clothes several times in one day, if possible. Usually just my shirt, if I can stand to remain in my shorts/jeans/bottoms. Pjs are different, I could stay in them all day depending on the outlying situation.
28. Movie buff at your service. Not just the movies everyone likes, the weird, obscure ones too. The non-pops are some of my favorite.
29. When I was in 4th grade, I wanted badly to become a photographer for National geographic. I loved animals, and wanted badly to see the world, so I figured I would work for a magazine that would allow me to mix the two. That, and my 4th grade teacher was a photographer, and I think I might of had a crush on him. He was the only teacher who got me to make semi-God grades, and do my homework. Respect/crush=whatev, same thing
30. In 6th grade, I started writing. See #9.
31. By the end of my seventh grade year, I realized my photography was crap, and I didn't care to do the humanitarian side of NG, so I switched my aspirations towards becoming an author. Wish me luck!
32. I own a grey tabby cat named Hercules. He is absolutely adorable, and affectionate. Right now he is in Calif, and I am in Flor. :( That's probably another reason I want to go back to Calif.
33. Hurc replaced my other cat, a brown tabby named 'Cat.' Original, I know. But that was all he would answer to, besides the cruel name my step sister gave him. I'll give you a hint, it's a beaver's favorite hobby. ...Yeah.
34. I'm a big music fan, but I'm picky. I only like catchy songs, and songs with complex, creative lyrics. Example: Chris DeBurg writes incredible lyrics, and the music is good too. I guess what you could say is I like lyrics more than music, but if the music is bad and overbearing, I can't ever get to the lyrics.
35. My favorite artists are the obscure, less hardcore ones. Like Counting Crows, Seal, David Bowie, those types. I used to be big into the Beatles and the Monkees, but their mundane lyrics get old. The reason I have 80's music on my radio is because their quirky, high energy songs are a good way to start the day, and have in the car.
36. Chocoholic. And when I say chocoholic, I mean that I need chocoholic's anonymous, no joke. I love chocolate to the point that if certain foods don't contain it, I flat out wont eat them. Coke/Dr. Pepper is another big thing for me. Caffeine must be my weakness, but I stand by the statement, "I eat/drink caffeine for the taste"
37. My favorite thing in the world is to curl up into a big, fluffy, soft smelling comforter, equally soft pillows, and revel in the beauty of it as I slowly drift to sleep... Ah...
38. The worst thing to do? Get out of bed in the morning, especially in the soft pillows and comforters, when an alarm goes off. I don't mind people waking me up, but if an alarm goes off, or I wake up myself, then I get pissy and cling to sleep. That mentioned, whoever invented alarm clocks better be in Hell.
39. There's reason to believe that I should have been born blond. Besides the fact that my sister is a natural blond, I am pretty ditzy at times. Beyond that of a common 'blond moment.' It's not because I'm not intelligent, it's because I have a wandering mind. It's like the lights are on, but nobody's home sort of thing.
40. For the past two december's, I have written on my blogs that the 'current' year sucked, and the next year better improve upon it. So far, 2006 has neither come through for me, or let me down. We'll see how fall and winter go.
41. I find it extremely sexy when a man is totally comfortable with his feminine side, especially if he still retains some masculinity. For instance, I have the biggest crush on young Tim Curry because he wore all that lingere in Rocky Horror Picture Show, while still being a bad ass. Another example would be the lead singer of Green Day. I never found him attractive till I learned he was bi-sexual.
42. For being as 'young', and healthy as I am, I have visited a hospital more times than my same-age friends. Twice in an ambulance to the emergency room for a dislocated knee, several more to keep track of my knee's health, knee surgery last year, and the times when I saw my dad in the hospital with cancer all last fall and early summer. I don't like hospitals
43. Magnolias are my favorite flower.
44. I enjoy reading Harry Potter more than another books I've read. The universe that JK has created sucked me in, and I love to delve into that wizarding world when I open up the latest HP book.
45. The Harry Potter movies? Meh, they're good too, but you don't get the intimate feeling of the books. Like Stephen King says, "Books and Movies are like apples and oranges. Both are nutritious and sweet, but they are two completely different tastes."
46. Speaking of Stephen King, he is my idol, and I would give my left leg to have his success and imagination. Anne Rice... Not so much, her books are quite boring in my opinion.
47. I don't like Dogs so much. They're like other people's kids: you play with them, you have fun, they love you for being attentive, but when they get a little cranky, or hungry, or whatever, you let them go back to their 'parents'. Personally, I can't stand the slober or the smell.
48. Cats rule, in my opinion. Best pet ever, they're so independent. All you do is feed them, and pet them occasionally. The best part is, they bathe themselves, and don't jump all over you with muddy paws and bad breath.
49. I have 6 nieces nad nephews now. My brother Clayton has 4 kids: Zak, Kaylie, Mirium, and Amon. My brother Alma has one, her name is Eden. My sister has a daughter, Lexi, whom I am currently taking care of.
50. I get claustrophobic in airplanes unless I'm on the aisle seat. This started up because I felt like my knee would dislocate from leaving it in a cramped position like that, and I would have to endure tremendous pain just to get me in the position to relocate my knee. See how traumatic dislocating one's knee can be?
51. Movies with energetic, heart racing, goosebump inducing songs really make me happy. The epic kind of songs, you know what I'm talking about. The protagonist is about to win, or already has, and everything is in slow, victory motion with this triumphant music playing in the background. Good stuff.
52. On most occasions, I am quite the unenergetic, lazy bum. I would like more to sit on a beach than try to sail over it's ocean, you know? Relaxed, a breeze in my hair, and a cold drink at my side. Maybe a good book or two to read/write.
53. Don't get me wrong, I can be spontaneous and adventurous. One day I would like to try bungee jumping, para-sailing, scuba diving, all those things to feel the rush of adrenaline.
54. I'm proud, if not very knowledgeable, about my ancestry.
55. My dream is to go to Africa and navigate through the midst of the jungle and Sahara. Also visit Egypt and view it's many wonders.
56. When I get mad, I get silent. The silent treatment might not work, but it helps me feel better.
57. Sometimes, when I feel worried about my future, I think to myself that I just want my step dad to set me up with a rich doctor. Then I may get myself into a bad marriage, but atleast I'll have security. Unless he should divorce me, and then I'll atleast have half of whatever he has.
58. The feeling that thrills me the most is fear. The rush of adrenaline and the elated senses... wow, it can be pretty exciting. I'm talking scary monvie fear, or cemetary midnight walk fear. Not the fear that comes from a loved one in the hospital or something, that's not a good feeling.
59. When I get feeling down, I turn on a classic rock radio station, and it usually gets the job done. Also, it calms me down when I'm nervous, it calms me when I'm angry, and it can be great to sing along to at a red light. Classic rock rocks!
60. I have a fear of intimacy. (there's nothing else to say there without giving too many details)
61. Over the past few years, I've begun to gain a fascination with weaponry, and the art of weilding a weapon. Not a gun, maybe a broadsword or butterfly knives. Recently, I've begun training with a staff. The amount of focus required is actuall quite rewarding for my usually wandering mind. I hope to move on to a broadsword when I get a little more sure footed. (I'll be like non-dyke Gabrielle with her staff! That's too bad, I like her little knives better)
62. I would much rather recieve flowers from a guy than jewelry. Despite this, I've never recieved flowers. Not from a male anyway. Fathers don't count.
63. Usually, I'm very content being single. Sometimes I get the itch. It only happens when it's been long enough for me to forget how much I don't like relationships. Refer back to number 60. And # 21-23.
64. My favorite scent? That's difficult. I enjoy a wide variety of scents, but at the moment, the scent of an apple pie baking sounds delectable. So there you have it, my favorite scent depends on my mood. Another good scent is AXE body spray, Pheonix. But that's a whole nother type of pie ;)
65. I used to imagine Brendan Fraser walking into my school, and having them release me for the day. I don't know why him inparticular, I didn't really want him to take me anywhere else besides out of school, but it was a nice thought to occupy my mind in boring classes.
66. Nearly every movie I see, I like. This isn't the case with books though. I'll read books all the way through only if they entice me. If I lose interest, then it's back to the bookstore. But I'm pretty good at judging a book by it's cover ;)
67. Sometimes I detest the phone, and will hide it so that I can't hear it or be bothered with it. Othertimes I will call like five people in one day just to talk. This can last hours, depending on how long the other person is willing to garble on.
68. My favorite TV shows used to be animal shows, like discovery channel and things like that. Recently, I watched Croc Hunter religiously, and I still enjoy a good nature program if I'm in the mood. (RIP croc hunter!) For the most part though, I like shows where the main character is stubborn, witty, disfunctional in relationships, and usually female. IE Xena, Crossing Jordan, House, Dead Like Me
69. My favorite kind of pie is cherry. All the way.
70. The reason my display name is "the firefly," is because back in 7th grade my friends and I were big into Sailor Moon. We created our own little characters, that were sister moons to the outer planets. I switched from Sailor Triton, to Sailor Titon, and back again, but I allways stuck with my signiture attack: Firefly Swarm! or something like that. And if I was ever in trouble, which happens a lot if you've ever seen Sailor Moon, a swarm of dragon flies would engulf me and remove me from harm's way until I recovered. We weren't terribly good artists, but we tried, and I guess the firefly/dragon fly mentality kind of stuck with me through the years.
